When we first met Ava, she told us something important. She wasn’t interested in a traditional party. She loved creating. Painting. Crafting. Making things with her hands.
That single insight became the DNA of the entire celebration.
A whimsical mosaic landscape, inspired by Ava’s own artwork, became the visual language of the event. It inspired custom wrapped paint can centerpieces featuring artwork from different moments in her life, appeared throughout the signage and printed pieces, and transformed the room into a colorful extension of her imagination.
Even the venue design supported the story. Black linens, furnishings, and dramatic lighting allowed vibrant bursts of color to become the stars of the room, creating the feeling of stepping inside one of Ava’s paintings.
But we didn’t want guests to simply observe the story. We wanted them to become part of it. Instead of spending the evening on a dance floor, family and friends explored a maker’s studio filled with creative experiences. Guests designed mosaic frames, candle holders, terrariums, custom tumblers, wood signs, nail art, yarn pumpkins, and more. A caricature artist captured everyone with playful portraits to take home, while a colorful sweets display added another layer of whimsy to the environment.
One of our favorite moments was transforming the event poster into a collaborative work of art. Friends and family signed their names, wrote messages, and colored individual mosaic pieces, creating a keepsake that reflected the people who helped shape Ava’s story.
The result wasn’t simply a Bat Mitzvah party. It was an experience designed around the person being celebrated.

Ava's Story: Not every Bat Mitzvah needs a DJ and a dance floor.

Crafting Activities
Ava's vibe was not a DJ or a dance floor, so instead, we curated a variety of craft table activities to celebrate Ava's love of creation. We also brought in a duo of caricature artists to capture her guests in a fun and uniquely Ava way.

Centerpieces
Unique centerpieces featuring Ava's actual artwork separated by art medium, as a way of identifying table assignments.
